Fraud Alert!
NEVER RESPOND to any email or telephone inquiry requesting personal information from you. It is NOT First Bank and Trust Company!
First Bank and Trust Company will not EVER, under any circumstances, ask for personal information by phone or email.
Virtually 100% of all such calls and emails are part of a new fraud scam known as phishing. Phishing (pronounced "fishing") is defined as unsolicited emails or phone calls from someone claiming to be your bank, credit card company or other financial institution.
Phishing scams typically involve unsolicited calls or emails stating you are eligible for or have won a lottery, contest, or have been awarded a grant for which you haven't applied. These scams ask you, as the "winner," for bank routing and account information in order to automatically deposit funds into your account.
Another common fraud involves calls and emails stating your account has been compromised or requires confirmation or updating of information. They may ask you to visit a website in order to avoid suspension of your account. The website might look nearly identical to our site, and usually requires you to enter personal and account information for verification. Common phishing scams target trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers and credit card companies.
You can, if you wish, check the authenticity of any message by directly contacting us.
